What is the difference between a shed floor and foundation?

Can you put a plastic shed on grass or soil?
No, grass and soil do not provide reliable support for a full-size plastic shed.
Topsoil changes volume as it wets, dries and freezes. Organic material also decomposes below the floor. Both processes create low spots.
A shed may look level during assembly and move after the first wet winter. Door rubbing often appears before the movement becomes obvious outside.
Remove vegetation and weak topsoil. Build the approved foundation on properly prepared ground. Keep its finished level above surrounding soil where the manual requires drainage.
Do not hide an uneven site with loose sand beneath the shed floor. Sand needs a designed paving build-up and edge restraint.
Can you put a plastic shed on gravel?
